    You'd be surprised how small they can be. Mine in outside and i run it off the sun. You'd think it would increase the temp in my tank but it doesn't. It actually makes it cooler because of the crazy surface area and evaporation.

    You could have one as small as a 5 gallon bucket. Believe me I tried so many things to get rid of hair algae it's ridiculous. After I set this up... the algae moved to the pad..... and I've never had a problem since.

    I'll have to keep that in mind. I've playing around with the idea of a large upgrade a year or so down the road, and have been researching the ATS as an option.

    Luckily, for now, I have beat my algae issues :)
