algae looks like pink cottonballs!!

    i have this algae growing in my tank for some time now. it is located in my refugium/ats. it looks like pink cottonballs! does anyone know anything about this type of algae? is it good or bad? it seems to be smothering my caulerpa thats sitting underneath my ats. here is a picture: Pink Algae? - Reef Sanctuary

    Callithamnion is a royal pain in the neck. It exudes a lot of secondary metabolites (toxins) so most herbivores won't touch it. Sometime Mexican turbo snails will eat it (i.e. not regular turbos). Foxface rabbitfish sometimes will too.

    I have this stuff in my nano and it is a real PITA. I scrub it off and it comes back within days in full force.
