I have a 10 gal. Freshwater tank that keeps getting green hair algae everywhere I use tetra algae control and it does nothing. I light the tank for exactly 12 hours a day and have emacculate water condition. What chemicals can I add to help and in a few days a friend is going to give me a HOB filter if I add that to my tank will that help?

Cut back on your lighting to 10 hours. Feed very lightly. Manually remove the algae, killing the algae just adds nutrients back into the water for more algae growth.

Stop using liquid fertilizers. Only use substrate fertilizer and no more than recommended by the manufacturer.
