I am having a algae problem in my tank this brown stringy algae is all over my rocks, crushed coral bottom, and starting to grow on my corals. I ordered a UV sterilizer and it should be here in 3 days? I was wondering if i can leave my lights off for a couple days or will it kill my corals? or should i leave them on for like 4 hours a day until i get my UV light. I have done a 10% water change and also been skimmer alot more to help cut back on the nutrients in the water. Also would a phosban 150 help out with taking out nutrients that will cause algae blooms? and what kind of algae do you think is growing in my tank? like i said b4 its brown and stringy? sorry about the long thread thanks for the help!!

Try not to overfeed, p04 reactors are a good thing and when doing water changes beffore hand try and remove as much as possible from the sand and rocks and use a net to remove the algea that is floating as much as you can.

uv sterilizer won't help that much, but it will help spores from your display from infecting other tanks in your system.
