Several weeks ago I got the yellow polyp frag with purple and green coralline algae and this dark red (algae/coralline algae?) stuff on it. Now the dark red appears to be growing and extending outward from the frag. What is this stuff?

Not sure what it is, but if you are talking about the red ;eafy stuff growing off of the rock, its nothing to worry about. I have some growing in random areas of my tank and the hermits do a good job of controlling its growth. I think my coral beauty nips at it too. I also have some red looking coralline in my tank as well and it never seems to do any harm. hope this helps.

Thanks, they were taken with the wife’s Christmas present a Canon SD1100IS, in macro mode. Seems like a pretty versatile little camera, I’m going to have to play with it a bit and maybe retire my old Minolta.
