So... I'm using Algaefix Marine in my tank to treat an ongoing Algae problem that I seem to be having. I'm trying to determine if it is okay to run my skimmer while I treat. On the bottle it says it won't cause water discoloration or foaming and it says to treat every 3 days until algae is gone and then once a week for maintenance. I can't imagine I would want to turn my skimmer off that often. So, the question is, has anyone used this and do I need to turn my skimmer off?

:p get a dang cleanup crew woman. Id imagine you'd want the skimmer off with any chemicals however.

You should try to avoid chemicals. Have you tried natural measures already?

I have an urchin and some snails, but I probably need more snails...

What other natural measures are there? I've done water changes, added another powerhead (I have 2 currently), dropped the amount of time the light is on and even resist opening my shade to my window until the sun is to the south or west (I have an east facing window)

How much are you feeding? And yes, definitely get more snails and some hermits! You'd be amazed how many snails you need for 30 gallons.
