The tanks I see at the stores don't have the algae buildup on the glass like I do. I don't have algae on the rocks but anything plastic or acrylic I do. Some of it will wipe off, but the rest I have to scrub off and it is hard to do. It is most;y brownish/green. I think all my params are normal and I have been using bottled RO water to top off and do changes. What can I check to figure out what is causing it.

That sounds like normal diatom algae growth to me and we all have to scrub it off of our glass and plastic ornaments. Store tanks don't seem to have it because the employees probably scrape the tanks daily. What are you testing for that you say is "normal?" Can you post those test results here?

How old is your tank? All tanks go through the diatom alge stage and more then likely a few others its all of the tank maturing process.

I too have this problem and it is annoying but you practically have to clean the glass regularly otherwise it is harder to get off. Do you have a good clean up crew? If not you might want to get one!
