I have a 48' Current Outer 2 150W MD, 4 54W Atinic, and 6 LED moon lights. I am running on a 80 GaL tank. Currently I turn on the Atinics at 6am to 10 pm, MD's from 10 am to 6 pm and moon led's from 10 pm to 6 am. I was wondering if these are good or bad amounts of lighting (time wise). I was seeing a temp change from 78 to 82 each day, but know i am trying to control the higher temp with a fan. I am seeing more alges then before though. I did have high Nitrates, but now have them down to near zero, but the algea is still building on the glass each day. Is my lights or length of running my lights causing this? Any thoughts would be helpful. I am doing very frequent water changes, with an R/O system, and using Algone in my filter,(6th day of use, second pack). All my other test are normal as well.

I run my actinics for 16 hours a day and turn my 3-400w MH's on for 8 hrs in the middle of that. I get a little film on my glass every couple of days. The moonlight will have little to no effect on algae IMO.
How old are the bulbs in the fixture??? If they are old the light spectrum they emit will start algae growing.

there's very little or no sun light hitting my tank, but I did another clean up last night. I bought this filter system from craigslist. Last night i opened all the filter media compartments and the bags in each. This guy told me he had a carbon remover that he just put in, but when i looked inside it was full of BIO BALLS! My fault for trusting this guy. Their now out and i am already seeing better results. I know, I am an idiot ::) for not looking for my self. Thanks for the advice, i appreciate it.:)

meh, everyone makes mistakes. Afterall, you wouldn't be here telling us your story if one hadn't happened. :tongue4: (I kid I kid. Mods, don't get upset, I work with this guy)

Even UPS can't deliver a bucket of sea salt without shattering the bucket. (note, I just got a call from UPS that they shattered my bucket of salt) :(
