    Brown algae( diatoms ) is a part of the normal algae cycle. It will probably go away by itself soon.

    Watch out for some of the answers you get on this... I think some get carried away saying you need hundreds... which is fine if they have a lot of algae to eat.. but will die once things clear up. I probably have 30 snails ceriths , nassarius, 2 turbos, 2 cleaner shrimp, i think 2 peppermints, fuzzy cheaton,1 emerald, maybe 20 hermits. I get a very small amount of green algae that they seem to balance out. Kinda worried they don't have enough food as it is. 180 gallons.
