    i recently changed my lights on my tank from t5's to metal halide lighting and recently ive started to see a bit of alges growing in my tank is this related to the lighting?all my params are good so thats the only thing i can think of...

    Most likely, it seems whenever a lighting change is made you get algae growth. Just squirt the areas with a turkey baster or PH after you remove the algae if it is GHA. It should run it's course quickly also.
