Wow. Alien would be my guess. I really don't know. That is some strange stuff right there. If a crab like creature shoots out of it, make sure it does not attach to your face.
I agree, last pic is a massive bubble algae. Remove the rock, and manually remove the piece in a separate bucket if possible.

lol, luc i sent some pm's to few describing that sort of thing to some fellow reefers here. it really is strange and now its waiting to see what happens. actinics are on and its like it may have taken viagara. i hope its gonna be okay. my fav coral

Yeah, that bubble coral is doing a weird thing there.

As long as it seems healthy besides that "thing" I would not worry. LPS do some strange things from time to time.

 

May I suggest sending a pic to wetwebmedia.com? They're usually pretty good at these guessing games!

Sorry, Guy! I have no idea what that alien thing is! I agree with everybody else on the bubble algae. My emerald crab can't even burst the bigger ones (I've seen it try, but no luck). If you can get a hold of it with some tongs or tweezers and twist it a bit, it should break loose and come out whole.

 

ho's have been on for a few hours now, no sign of said protuberance. may never know what it was,is,shall be. lol.
