    I have no idea what this is. When my wife tried explaining it to me over the phone I thought she was drunk! I got home and seen this thing it is crazy!! Anyway it opens and closes, but when it opens a mouth comes out....I tried to outline it in yellow to show you, but the picture sucks.

    Can't see a thing from the pic. Am I drunk or is it a little blurry. LOL Just kidding. But a better pic would be good.

    Yeah dude, take the picture from a distance then zoom and crop. That will work.

    it is wild looking...from a distance it looks like part of the rock

    They always do. I didn't ID it from the original blurry picture, I ID'd it by the fact that it opened and closed, was attached to the bottom of the rock (i.e. non-photosynthetic), and when it opens a "mouth" comes out.

    I did mess up though in my original post. While clams and oysters are both in the class Bivalvia, jewel boxes would be considered an oyster instead of a clam.

    That could be a challenge. There are smooth ones, leafy ones, ridged ones, spiky ones. The family Chamidae is made up of several Genuses and different species in most of the Genuses. Chamidae - Google Image Search
