After finding my water testing 8 dkh i begun (for the first time ever) dosing kent 2 part as i also want my calcium a tad higher as well. This was 3 days ago,i dosed 2 times and tested again day 3(today)dkh is now 9 and calcium went from 400 to 420.That sounds good, but since i dosed my toadstool only opens about half the time now and half of my kenya forrest looks sad while the other half looks fine.Could this be from the 2 part? Are they just adjusting? All other corals look and act just fine. All other params are right on target.

how are you making the additions to the tank?
if you are adding concentrated solution into the DT then its possible some of these corals are reacting to that

a better method is to mix the additive with RODI and then use it in that diluted form for top offs
or take a jug of DT water out of the tank, add the additive and then slowly add back to tank (dripped is better than poured IME)

It's kent 2 part made just for nanos,i'm assuming that they are allready diluted, the instuctions say to add part a straight into water flow(like a powerhead, wait 5 minutes, then dose same amount of part b.I have medical syringes that read in ml's and dosed for 20 gallons(allowing for rock, sand, etc.taking up water volume space)

Sorry,i did forget to mention i added it in the filter area to let it"mix up"in the water before going into the tank.

your method sounds good, but the corals that are affected are they down stream in more or less a direct line of the power head? as they may be getting a higher dose than Kent would prefer and that might explain the refusal to open fully

I would try to mix the amount you need, with an equal qty of tank water next time and then you have 1/2 concentration, and that should help IME

I guess you can say they are all in front of powerheads as i have 2 returns jets with double pumps in the jbj cube, plus a koralia nano ph in the back for dead spaces. But the kenya thats not opening is in the same place as my other kenyas(my largest dropped babies like crazy when i first got it,luckily there all on one rock in the same location, the toadstool is on the oppisite side also somewhat in front of a return jet. What's wierd is it's only half the kenyas, the others are standing tall?

My biggest concern is i have corals coming in tomorrow and am afraid something might be out of whack all of a sudden.

the parameters listed on your 1st post , dont indicate "being out of whack" to me

to me it just seems the corals reacted to the strenght of the additive being used rather than the finished parameters which are fine IMO

Thanks for the reassurement Steve,And with everything i've learned so far about water chemistry,i think my levels are looking good as well, just kinda scared me,the same day i place my first coral order ever and these guys start acting up!;D
