    This is a blanket statement that I am not sure of why it is stated this way.
    Sea water ranges are; Mag = 1180-1350 ppm, Alk = 7-12 DKH, Calc = 380-420 ppm and Ph = 8.2-8.4

    It is normal and as a rule to have a 3:1 ratio of Mag to Calc. 420 calc would have Mag at 1260.

    phosphates will never be zero. for an sps tank .03 is ideal. if you can get anywhere near that ur doing great. go get the water tested with a hanna phosphate tester and i will bet you $20 that they are not zero. .25ppm will be fine for most lps go lower if you want to keep sps.

    Well undetectable on my cheapo test kit. :) I realize this is not actually 0, but close enough.
