    Hey everyone -

Currently I've got a product called 'chlorine remover', produced by crystal clear. It says on the bottle ...

removes chlorine, ammonia, chloramine, heavy metals

However, it also says that is 'formulated for ponds'. I did a little research and found out the actual ingredient in the product, which is sodium thiosulfate and seems to be a common dechlorinator. Anyone think this would be safe to use in a marine aquarium?

    Hm...
I did some research because I am interested in this too. Normally, I use API's stress coat OR de-chlorinator. It depends on the system and what I have in inventory usually. I do know that stress coat makes skimmers go a little crazy for a little bit.

I looked into the ingredients of Stress Coat and found that it's made up of:
I would imagine as long as its sodium thiosulfate, you're good to go.

Did some more research and found that APIs Tap Water Condition is made up of nothing but the sodium thiosulfate and redox reducer. So you're definitely good to go.

Heres something I just found... Lots of info on pretty much every water conditioner.

I would avoid using tap water, conditioned or not if it were me. Tap water is inconsistent at best and not suited for a reef type system. Dechlorinators and conditioners are not needed with RO or RO/DI water which is a much more reliable water supply.
