    Hey All!!

ok here's the problem. My cousin bought a 180g tank and set up. We went and got the tank, broke it down, took it to his place, put all the rock in totes with salt, heat and power heads. I took a piece of rock home an put it in my tank. Woke up this morning, and all my fish are dead. All tests are mint, salinity is spot on. We found out they had 2 sea cucumbers die in this tank, which are highly toxic. Is it possible, this toxicity stayed with the rock, and leeched back out into my tank killing my fish???
I'm crushed! Any help would be appreciated.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Sorry for the loses, that is terrible.

I have never heard of reports of residual toxin, could it be possible that something else was hidden in the rock, died during transport?

I guess all you can do at this point is run some new carbon and water changes. Hard to do an intervention when you have no idea what caused the problem.

I would remove the rock for good and have your friend only purchase one fish initially when it's time to stock the tank.

    Again sorry for loss.

Sorry for the loss I would bake all the rocks that came with the tank before setting up that 180 and you could bake the one you got as well if you really wanted it to be in your tank.

How big is your tank and how big is the piece of rock? What tests did you run?

    Whats your ammonia at?

Your tank could be cycling again.

    Welcome to 3reef

    Sorry for your loss

It sounds like your tank cycled again, knowing the exact numbers and what tests were made might help us explain what happened.

One rock would not cause an ammonia spike unless something substantial was in the rock and died. Residual toxin is a possibility or if they had treated with copper and it now leached.
