Allowing fish to grow out

There is always an exception to the rule, it proves nothing.

I once drove around with a dolphin (seriously) in the back of my pick up truck, hence everyone should do it.

Not trying to be rude really, but this just mucks up perfectly justified reasons not to buy or house large fish in small tanks.

 

I know a very simple secret of how to tell a dwarf angelfish's gender, it's the same for fairy wrasse. To answer the original post I would look for smaller fish. There are plenty of great choices!

I thank all of your for your advise and expertise. I was against adding small babies knowing they would have to be moved in the future and figured it should not be attempted even if the lfs stated it would be ok and have ruled out the idea of doing that with any larger angels or tangs.

I clearly stated I was not going to add large angels or tangs to the tank because of advice given here. All further posts were in regards to pairing up dwarf angels Im sorry if there was confusion but I do not want you to think your advice given is disregarded

 

Just curious, do you mean a dolphin like a livign creature dolphin? And if so what were your plans lol

 

What is the little secret in telling gender? I ask because not only am I interested in dwarf angels but also fairy wrasse

 

I worked at The Marine Mammal Institute in Laguna Ca.

We transported beached Dolphin in F150s'. The particular instance I was referring to was when we lost a Dolphin and I had to transport the body to the LA facility for a necropsy. I just used that example because it was an exception to the norm.

Ok I rememeber you saying from experience you had kept fish in to small tanks as am amateur, I was hoping you didnt capture and attempt to keep a dolphin in a kiddie pool!;D

And from being in FW for many years I do truly understand the importance of being a responsible keeper, hence the fact that I can not tell you the last time I bought a PACU or a red tailed catfish because they grow way to big for anything but a public aquarium and after they get larger a lfs will not take them back because they are overloaded with them. I ask questions because I know from experience that many people state you cant do things simply because it has not worked for them in the past. Even though I want 2 dwarf angels, unless my research leads me to a way that I can get a pair and that a pair will be ok in a 46gallon I know I will prob only end up with 1.

 

very interesting but how accurate would this method be in juvies I wonder?
By the way what size is considered juvenile for dwarf angels?
