I'll agree that it will help; However, whether or not that alone is sufficient depends on how much livestock you have or plan to acquire. Keep in mind that saltwater doesn't hold oxygen like freshwater, and the higher the temperature, the less oxygen it can maintain. Personally, I try to err on the side of safety. Having the DT and sump uncovered, along with surface circulation in both, will provide the greatest possible level of gas exchange.

On my 90 I average about 1 to 1.5 gallons a day, depends on how hard the house AC with the built in dehumidifier worked that day :jester:

    Water top off routines

I installed 30g fuge for my 75g dt about 3 weeks ago and need to top off about a gallon a day as my fuge return pump (Mag3) begins to produce bubbles in the DT. I was advised to install a ball valve on the return to slow it down a bit, but fear the valve would create unwanted pressure on the pump and hose, so I elected not to install the valve. Now pushing 3 weeks it is beginning to be a pain with the daily micro bubble event. What should I do to slow it down? What is the typical routine for having top-off water on stand by. Perhaps newbie questions for another thread, but water evaporation seemed like a relevant thread.

I think your return section is too small, or you should use an ATO.

I installed mine on Thursday. A JBJ ATO. And I think I'm in love:sweethear!
I was topping off my sump return at least once if not twice a day. Small return section.

Listen to blackraven1425 micdarj. This should be your next investment for your tank.
