    my 10 gallon sump is drilled.. it wasnt a problem at all.. if you take your time (10+ minutes) and let the bit do the work it should be fine..

    I was able to drill 2 holes in my 5.5gal. Took time, but did not crack. Not the cleanest holes in the world, but no issues.

    I was even too scared to drill a 5.5 haha.. Now that I have seen it done my wheels are just turning.

    lol, that's all I could fit over the 29G sump. No room in the sump, so it was the only way to get a refugium.

    Few pieces of advice....

    1) flood the crap out of it with water
    2) NO pressure on the drill, take most of the weight off
    3) Clamp wood under the hole you are drilling for a clean edge

    That was the first time I've EVER drilled glass. So I think it turned out ok.

    10g glass is pretty much impossible to drill. I would try cutting the silicone in the braces and buy a cheap piece of 1/4" glass. Drill that 1/4" piece then silicone that in as the new side of the 10g.

    the plastic or rubbermaid is a good idea i was unsrue about it at first but then i put one on a 150 gal tank I had and it work great.
