    Ha i use high desert play sand from home depot, 5 bucks for a 50 pound back

    they only have "quckqrete play sand" at mine....Think that would work?

    idk i just know that high desert and kolorrscape are ok

    I would not use that sand at all.

    Regarding the ebay sand, 40 lbs for 25 dollars shipped is a good deal, if it has anything live in it is a good guess, but as long as it is aragonite, go for that.

    Regarding using new sand in a bigger tank upgrade, I did exactly as you mentioned, all new sand, and I used a few cups of the old sand from my established 90g when I went to my 193g.

    I had NO cycle at all, but I did use most of the old water from my 90g, and I used all 100% cycled and established LR.

    Do the vinegar test to it and see if it responds how it should.

    Sand is not something you want to skimp on IMHO. You can create so many issues if it is not pure aragonite.

    Sand from Home Depot??? You got to be Kidding me unless they are arrogonite sand.We spend so much money for this hobby and your gonna use 99 cents store sand . Well i gues uget what you pay for!!:eek:
