Im not sure if the answer is out there. I havent really had time to go through everything but i am having some problems with micro bubbles. I know that a protein skimmer uses bubbles to separate bad particles from the water but i am getting alot of bubbles in my tank from my return pump out of my sump. I have a P 1000 setup from Aqaurium Life Support Systems. I have out a piece of foam under the output of the protein skimmer and it hasnt really reduced the bubbles any. By looking at the tank it is hard to tell if it is all bubbles or small particles of food, but it doesnt seem to change wether i am feeding of doseing or just leaving it alone. If anyone can help me out with this i would appreciate it.

There are a couple things you could try.

1 - Replace your current foam pad with a much finer pad. Check your lfs' to see how fine of a foam block you can find.

2 - If possible, add small pieces of liverock to your sump in between your skimmer and your return pump.

Also, how long has your skimmer been running for?

Well we have been fooling around with it for a bit but as of now with out us touching it and fooling around with the setup of it it has been running for about 24 - 48 hrs. I have a feeling we may need a stronger pump as the one we have is a RIO 800 venturi pump. I was thinking of upgrading to a RIO Aqua Plus 1400 in hopes that it might be more powerful and help the separation of water and bubbles as i am hoping it would push the bubbles further up the protein skimmer.
