I just took a 4' piece of aluminum foil and attached it to the front(inside) of my canopy at a 45 or so degree angle and MAN I can physically see a huge difference in the light that is directly going into the tank.
Before I just had the two 175 MH with the polished reflector in my canopy. There was nothing else directing the light. So everything else is just wood.
I also tried it at a 90 degree, attached flat to the front door of the canopy and it seemed to make a slight difference, but nothing like the angle does.
I would give it a try for yourself and see what a difference it makes!

Foil works real well for redirecting lights. Congrats on trying it.

I really don't think the camera would show it.

Most digital cameras wouldn't, since they adjust themselves based on the amount of light.

Definitely a good idea on your part. Try getting it in a parabolic shape, and see if that makes a bigger difference. Watch out for any corals that may not like a sudden jump in light levels, too.
