So my girlfriend and I picked up an Alveopora today from the fish shop and we are out of town, tommorow morning we are on our way back.

We bought the coral not knowing how difficult it seems to be. We've read that it pretty much sticks around for 6 months to a year than pretty much just starves to death. She wants to take it back and get something else but i want to keep it. So we pretty much need to decide by morning before we leave town.

I was curious about people who have had it with success and who has'nt. If we provide it with ample food(I've read it needs to be target fed) are we going to have this guy for many years or are we just going to be met with failure. I personally am up for the challenge and thinks it a great way to learn but if its just a dead end i would appreciate the heads up, thanks in advance!

i personally wouldnt give up just because of the reputation. just more reason to reasearch and expand your reef knowledge.

From what I have read, they need a very nutrient rich environment. If you are up to spot feeding everyday, then I say go for it.

It can be kept, but it needs a lot of filter food, usually this causes algae problems and some other corals don't like the amount of nutrients in the tank.
