I have a 25g reef with a hydor korlia 250 and a aquaclear 50 for powerheads. a Red Sea Prizm Pro skimmer and a HOB DIY Aquaclear fuge with some cheato and carbon/GFO. 30 - 35lbs of LR.

    Current inhabitants:
    2 O Clowns
    2 Blue/Green Chromis
    1 pearly jawfish
    2 Skunk cleaner shrimp
    5 blue legged hermits
    2 red scarlet hermits
    10-15 snails various types

I have no issues, my nitrates are still a solid 0. the only thing i have is a little GHA and Cyano which i think was from me using Tap water, i just switched to RO/DI, so hopefully that helps.

I just want a yellow clown goby as my final fish to complete my "wanted" list.

    Thanks

well I dont count the inverts when looking at stocking so IMO

    allowing for adult size
8 inches - pair of clowns
6 inches - blue green damsels
3 inches - pearly jaw fish

thus 17 potential inches of fish in a 25 gallon tank
the clown goby max size is 1.5 inches

thus 18.5 inches of fish in total should you add that fish

swimming space is not an issue as many of the fish listed dont need a lot of space
the Chromis may be happier in a larger set up with more of their own kind but space wise they are OK in that sized tank IMO

Water quality may not be an issue
dissolved oxygen could become an issue particularly in summer months when the water temperature climbs up

    If it where me
I would be tempted to trade the Blue/ Green chromis back and then add the goby

as that would then reduce you to 14 inches of potential fish stock in a 25 gallon tank

its still a bit on the high side, but removing the fast/ active swimmers, will help ensure oxygen depletion is less of an issue IMHO

The fish you have, don't occupy the same territory and should not have any territorial issues. In a small tank, such as yours, the goby could have a territorial issue with the jawfish. It *probably* won't though as both are fairly peaceful. The goby is unlikely to add any significant bioload, so that shouldn't be an issue, but realize you are starting to push your limits for that tank, so make sure it's the fish you want. You won't have much more room.

You sure are a tough act to follow. I agree that the OP is already overstocked.

Just another thought, re: O2. You likely won't have issues since you have a skimmer. Especially if you have an open top. The issue would be if equipment or power fails. A UPS battery battery backup, powering an air-pump can help a lot there. I had a covered 75, and the return line, from the sump came disconnected and I lost fish due to low O2, because the skimmer was in the sump. Interestingly, the clownfish survived, I think the zooxanthellae, from the anemone provided him with O2.

I don't disagree with steve that your highly stocked, however, your issue is the chormis, the goby won't really make you more overstocked. Your system probably won't even notice it. I think you can keep the chromis though, if there continues to be no fighting or nutrient issues. When you push stocking limits, equipment and redundancy becomes more critical.

i think the chromises already wouldnt be happy with only two in a 25. so you should just do what steve said, a trade.

but IME clown gobies "need" an sps to reach the full potential of life expectancy.
