Am I calculating my watts right? Is it Enough?

Just want to double check if I'm calculating my watts per gallon correctly. I'm running a 6 bulb t4ho fixtures, so 6 bulbs (3 ATI blue plus, 1 purple plus, 2 aquablue 12k) at 54w gives me 324, and running a 90g tank giving me about 3.6 per gallon. Each light has individual reflectors. Ive been read that watts/per gallon is only really good for depth now a days, with 24'' depth am I looking only at soft corals or will I be able to keep sps?

 

watts per gallon rule is outdated, i could have an ordinary 60 watt incandescent light bulb over a 5 gallon tank and i still couldnt grow corals even though technically thats about 12 watts a gallon. based on your fixture, tank size, and number of bulbs you will most definitely be able to grow anything you like.

 

You have more than enough to grow what you like as long as your water and husbandry will support them. A 4 bulb fixture would work perfectly well.
