am i doing alright?

here goes. ive had the tank for 4 or 5 mos now.

my tank updates....

-up and running holding fish fine for 4mos
-had a ich problem after a hippo tang, returned, other fish quarentined, left tank sitting for a month, no problems have arose[THANK YOU SHRIMP FOR SOLVING THAT.;D]
-all the levels are fine, nitrate nitrite ammonia PH
-temp. between 78-81
-salt is kept at .24-.26 no higher or lower
-40gallon "breeder" [wider]
-38lbs of liverock
-7corals [kenya tree/asperagus tip[x2], armor of god/button coral, finger leather/leather encrusting[x2], purple anthelia, green star polyps]
-2 fish[1 ocellaris clown(small), 1 scopas tang(4in long)]
-countless snails
-1 shrimp[told to be peppermint but almost all seethrough, very quiet fellow]
-2 powerheads
-1 regular large bucket filter
-1in of sand on the bottom
-i clean it once a week, and feed brine shrimp as they eat within 5mins twice a day both eat fine.
-1 available tank for quarentine[10gal]*xtra powerhead and bucket filter




i used to have a coral beauty before the tang, he died of ich, which i got from a baby hippo tang[NEWBIE MISTAKE NEVER AGAIN.] i brought the hippo back for a refund which they understood because im new. they treated it and i visit it haha.
but it infected my tank
i took out my fish[clown and coral beauty]
coral beauty was infected and died
i kept the clown out
i bought the tang
a month later i put them back in the tank
and theres no signs of anything
theyve been back for a month or more now. so im happy.

i had a ton of hair algae that took over
i removed almost everything and scrubbed it.. good or bad?
my advice was school and ive been out all summer so im so lost.. i go back next week. theyl survive.. eek!

but a snail had babies
so i guess my tank is doing well
the fish eat well
the clown has ADD with food... sees one and swims then sees another.. oh well he eats ;D



so give me your opinions please.
and advice

algae seems to bee a proooblem.... but nothing i cant deal with with a brush.

and ive noticed squishy colored things on the rocks. not aipstasia or asterina starfish. both iv had but i got rid of the aipstasia, only a couple starfish anyways.. im not rushing with them.
but the squishy things
they have a hole in the front
and i flipped through a book
theyre about the size of a dime or nickel.
is it sponge growing????
but theyre gone now
they come back


oh and in the beginning i had a umm seaweed growing on one of the rocks. i got frusterated and pulled it off

and, this is a very newbie question.. but the hard tube like thingss on the rocks that grow and such.. whats the name of them? i dont feel like looking for hours.. so i might aswell ask and stuff

sounds like your doing ok. and those tube things are feather dusters.

 

the tubes are prob feather dusters, which are fine. hippos as all tangs are prone to ich when 1st introduced because of the stress. but usually if feeding good will be fine on their own. the "squishy things are most likely a sponge of some type. do you feed your tang nori or some other veggie? they need it in their diet, not just meaty food. and the algae could be overfeeding and not enough flow. shouldnt jave to be brushing it off regularily. but saounds like your comin around haley. good luck with it all. and no pics? whats up with that.
