    I still don't quite get it, what about all the "good stuff" you are paying for? I believe that is what curing is for. Just musing.

    I did something similar with no problems. I received a bunch of dried out formerly live rock from a friend who ripped down his tanks. It sat in my basement in a box for years (I didn't have a SW tank yet). I bleached it over the course of a couple of days. Bleached it again for a couple of days. Then rinsed it over a week replacing the water every day and adding dechlorinator. Then, let it sit in RO water for a day. Added it to my existing tank with no problems about two weeks ago. Waiting for coraline to grow on it. Also added carbon to my HOB skimmer box just in case some bleach remained.
