Am i getting this right if i mix two size sand the finer sand gets on top and settles, or is it the other way around and you get the coarser sand on top.

I have to order 2 to 1 ration and i don't want to mess it up.

The finer stuff will settle to the bottom.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Heaver objects settle first is a way I guess you can think about it. Even over time the big nuts end up at the bottom of the mix nut container. Raisins are always at the bottom of the box...right next to the toy.

Its not fine sand but flakes and mini flakes and the mix is perfect for sand sifters without the sand storm problems, But i needed to know that info in order to proceed thanks. Got it now.

Actually yes the end of september and the set up well, it depends on my skills as an artist, since i'm doing 2 sculptures . I've got some of the rocks, but some are on their way. I'm going actually to pick up the stuff tomorrow. We Canadians have to rely on the wonderfull States who are much more proficient at business , here if you don't have a million people demanding one article they don't order it, so we have to go and get it are selfves; its embarrasing some time to be a Canadian. rant over. So as i was saying i have to sculp those 2 sculptures first, then , glue my ceramic walls to the back of the tank. Then i'm having a party with my friends who're going to help me lift those two big and heavy tanks and we're going to connect them together to form a huge system of a 150G starfire Reef, a 75 G starfire display refugium and a 60G sump. I say october 7-10

My concern with the substrate you bought is that it's flake. Is this going to be a deep sand bed? What type of flow moderate vs low?

    +1

Also, for sand-sifters (especially fish, like gobies), you want fine, smooth granules. Flakes or large grain sand can damage their gills.

No DSB ; its a 2" deep that's it and the flow will be like any other tank. Variable, with tidal periods twice a day and slower during the nights and a more vigorous one during the day. If the heavier material gets on top thats perfect the sands storm will be averted and the sand sifters will still have their play ground underneath the first layer, that particular brand and sizes was recomended to me by a site for inverts and sand dwelers.Even the pods where found to make houses out of this mix. That the reason i chosed it. Not easy to get either.
