OK i just put 30 pounds of sand in my existing reef tank. what i did was set the whole bag in and cut a hole in the bottom of the bag to siphon it out into the tank. now everything is super super cloudy. i cant even see anything in there. did i just screw up big time?

It's normal, you have to let the sand settle. I went through the same thing when I put mine in.

Typically the sand needs to be rinsed a lot and I mean a lot. unless you bought "Live" sand that straights no rinsing required.

I would go out and get a bulk size of filter floss and stuff your wet dry full of the stuff. then change it out every couple of hours

An idea for future reference that I have tried. After cleaning the sand, I place it back in the bag and cut a small hole on one end and slowly let the sand out. Make sure the hole is not too big. It really keeps the cloudiness down but it takes a little longer to do. :)
