    Hello 3reef Community,

I just got a gift certificate to Dr Foster and Smith and was thinking about getting either a carpet anemone or a rose bubble tip anemone.

Before I get started, here are the specs on my tank:

    11 months old 120 Gallon tank ( 60L x 20 W x 28 H)
Nova Current Extreme Pro 48 in T5 (6 bulb model)
Koralia Deluxe Wavemaster with 3 adjustable K4's and 1 adjustable K3
    1 Powerhead 402
    Eshopps HOB protein skimmer
Via Aqua 20 20 Media Reactor with Bella phos

    Stocking:

    4 in Blue Hippo Tang
    4 in Yellow Tang
    2 Misbar Oscellaris clowns
    1 cleaner wrasse
    2 Green Chromis
    1 Target Mandarin
    1 Long Tentacle Anemone
    1 Green Bubble tip Anemone
    1 Brittle Starfish
    2 Turtle Conch
    2 Crocea Clams
    1 Derasa Clam
    Mixed SPS/LPS/Softies

My questions are, am I ready for a carpet nem?

If so, should I go with a carpet nem, and if so Haddoni or Gigantea, or a Rose bubble tip anemone?

What are the pros and cons of both (obviously I know a little about keeping a bubble tip)?

I have heard carpets will eat fish, if so, what ones could you see me having an issue with in my tank?

***And a side note, I am in the process of selling my Current Nova Extreme Pro and will be upgrading (hopefully) to a 60 in Tek T5 lighting system (8 bulb model).

I thank everyone in advance for their input and apologize for the length of this post, I just want to do my homework before I introduce anything into my tank that could possibly destroy it all! ;)

All of them. It will eat anything that touches it.

How big is your tank? Sorry if I missed that info but I don't think you listed that?

It is a 120 Gallon tank. So it will even be able to kill the tangs if they were to touch the nem?

Would you suggest a rose then? I really like the looks of flame tips and those types of bubble tips, but I have never been able to find one for sale.

i dont know if mixing anemones is such a god idea? used to be a hands down bad idea but some people seem to be getting away with it now a days, it sounds like you could definately do it as far as husbandry goes if you are already keeping an anemone, if i was going to try it i'd try keeping a few of the same species in your ase another lta or bubble, you could also cut the one you have in half and then youd have 2

I've seen carpet nems eat tangs, just so you know. They were decent sized tangs too

just to add to above, I would do the rose bubble any day of the week before I would do the carpet. Bubbles are much more forgiving of our imperfections

I had a small green carpet devour a 4" powder blue tang. A few hours later, it decided that it wasn't all that hungry after all and puked it out. Nothing looks grosser than a half digested powder blue tang. Gross. Stick with a BTA.

I would stay away from carpets. They can get very big and can pack a horrible sting! I love carpet anemone but I will never ever own one. I have heard of them eating fish like others said, and bringing grown men to their knees when they get stung.

I hate to say this but I dont think you should even get a RBTA. I dont think you have enough lighting to support it as rose ones require a lot of light. It sounds like your tank is doing well...you are keeping clams and other type of anemones but I dont think I would push another anemone.

I dont understand why people tend to lean away from the question asked just to give there two cents on somthing not aksed? Not to be rude but this can lead people into a path they may have not wanted to go. He didnt ask if he thought you guys liked the idea of him putting an anenome in his tank. Just becuase you dont want one doesnt mean he doesnt want one.

His question was simple...do you think his tank is ready?

and yet again you leaned away from the question by remarking this comment.
and by them providing their ideas helps the person to see if he really is ready for an anemone. IMHO

i would go with the rose bubble tip anemone if you have already decided its one or the other. i think your tank is ready to have a carpet anemone but i wouldnt recommend it simply because they are pretty strict on their nessesities, get huge and might be able to harm stupid enough fish that will dare to get close enough.
