The owner of this tank gave me permission to show it off around the web where I see fit, and I know this forum eats up pictures, so here we go!

It's not often you get to see a new idea in reef building, but the A-frame tank located in Colorado sure is a new one for me. This tank was custom built by an amazing craftsman. All woodwork and glass work was done personally by the owner, and believe me his work is immaculate! That's not the end of what this tank is amazing for either. It is a complete stand alone island that is viewable from all four sides! All electrical is run through the floor and all plumbing is hidden under the cabinet. Nothing but amazing views on this one.

As I said it's an A-frame tank. The display holds 150 gallons of water and is about 3 feet wide at the base tapering up to about 1 1/2 feet at the top.

Light is supplied by a large array of some amazing computer controlled L.E.D.s. I don't have the exact specs or even a brand, but I can tell you they drop a ton of light in the perfect spectrum.

For filtration there is a dual sump with one holding dual 120 SWC Cone skimmers, and the other housing a massive refugium. This tank also has a closed loop system that is all drilled through the bottom and hidden in the rockwork. Filtration and closed loop system were designed by Elite Reef.

Livestock is light at this point due to the tanks age, but plans for a full mixed reef with all types of corals is in the works. For now the tank holds a few soft corals and LPS, but in the future it will also house SPS.

This is the beginning of one amazing reef and you better believe I plan to stay heavily involved in this one. Check back for pictures as this one evolves!

    WOW.

    Simply WOW.

This puts my tank to SHAME.

I wonder what the physics of the shape mean for the design? Something? Nothing?

No matter what - certainly one of a kind and keep us SATIATED - more pics!!!!

    hahahah

Most definitely! I've been elected as curator for this tank, so I will have plenty of opportunities to get more.

Love It! Makes me want to try and build something crazy (that would probably leed to a flood) Next time you get a chance show some of the woodworking with a flash. I would like to see that as well. Give the owner a high five for me (I still do high fives, lol)
