ok so here’s the story of the amazing unkillable muscle

well i have a piece of LR, about the size of a small basketball with heaps of stalks and hiding places making if perfect for pods and other goodies but unfortunately it made it a perfect home for unwelcome guests such as aptasia, colonial hydroids and sea apple. all of which engulfed the rock or were out of reach. one day i got sick of aptasia and hydroids and the risk of that damn sea apple all spreading and killing my tank. so i decided to nuke that piece of rock and i knew i would lose all the good things on it but it was worth the risk to get rid of all the badies visible in my tank.

    here was my actions
    boil rock
place rock in bleach solution in hot water and soak over night
    repeat bleach 2 more times
put rock in RO water and soak replacing water every day for 4 days
each day bucket and rock was left outside in 105+ heat

now obviously after the first boil and bleach most of the life had come off. i only counted 6 or so pod deaths. and all the badies were gone including algae leaving a nice piece of white clean rock ahhh peace at last.

funny thing is when i pulled the rock out to move it to my tank again i looked it over and check it out to make sure it was all ok and then i saw a muscle which was open living in the rock and naturally i thought it was just the shell and as soon as i turned it to the light it slammed shut!!

yes i have a muscle that survived boiling, bleach, RO and direct sunlight

    some things are simply AMAZING!!
lets hope we never encounter a pest as resilient as my muscle!

That's insane. The boiling would kill anything I would think not to mention bleach. Wow.
