Was down at LFS this AM negotiating for some Harlequin food. (I use sand stars, as I don't want a CC star loose in my tank. Also think you get more star for the money)

Employee was telling me he did same. He also said he had a linka, which he moved to sump when his Harley's were introduced.

He said those smart little guys went up and into overflows, went down drains, crawled out of filter socks and over baffles to get into sump.

He had not seen the shrimp for a while, then noticed he had only part of a linka left in the sump.

Now that is allot of determination to get a quality meal.

Would add to "weird tank happenings" thread, but I did not see it. :-/

 Holy moley! I can't say that I'm surprised though because my shrimp new there was a starfish nearby as soon as that sucker hit the water. I'm not sure mine are as determined as the ones that went for a ride down the overflow though!

I used cheap brown and green sand/feeder starts myself But I used C.C when needed And I can guarantee you that if you have a single live Harlequin shrimp in the system the starts will never be considered loose LOL

I have never seen on go more then 2 mins before it was pounced on.. s for the starts in the sump They will seek them out with in the system and you need to keep strainers on the lines to the sump or they will find away.. We have a Rose anemone that will not stay put even with strainers and he has to go along ways up and down drains ;lines to move several tanks away.. Its always the same anemone that always goes to the same tank..
But I guess until you learn the shrimp you could worry about a star loose :)

I recall the boss worrying about thing with a loose starfish the first time I tossed a C.C in the little SPS reef LOL
