I know part of the whole zeofit thing is to make sure your system is an ULNS... but they also have options for amino acids and very very specific elements/molecules.

Would the addition of amino acids really help color that much that its obvious?
i think i just found my next direction for research ;)

Personally I think it does from reading about users and there expierences. I believe the specific elements and aminos dosed effects the proliferation of different proteins with in the corals while others atrophy from the ULNS.

but I would be interested in more data.

i could see it making them more colorful... but if they can live without those amino acids in the first place (or produce them for themselves), what would the function be for adding them?
Maybe they are currently substituting similar amino acids and by adding you will be supplying the actual amino acid that is coded for...?
ill be researching this very very soon...

I have heard some bad things about some zeolite systems. About them basically starving corals causing them to lose color and weaken.
I think its entirely possible some implementations of it actually are damaging corals by removing too much from the water. Therefore the dosing of the aminos is actually the majority of nutrients the corals absorb.

I agree with this. im not too much of a zeo fan to begin with but wanted to investigate the whole amino acid color thing

well I brought it up because you can control the type of food the coral gets in the system since its so low nutrient. Much like you can control the body of any animal by controlling its diet.

Of course if I wanted to comedown on zeovite I would have just mentioned zeospur, something I wouldn't use lightly, But that effects the coloration of the corals also.

I used additives such as Reef Plus by Seachem which has vitamins and aminos and also coral Accel by Kent which is Aminos and protiens

I can say that although the colouration difference was not something I could capture using my Cannon digital, there where some obvious to to naked eye changes

The most significant reaction came from a green acro I had, that would take on a bluish tint very soon after either of these additives where made and continue to display that subtle colouration change for a few hours before fading to the original green - it was not permenent, and thats maybe as I did not dose regularly for fear of sacrificing water quality

    Thanks Steve...
I have done some reading and in my opinion, adding aminos and vitamins is not all that its hyped up to be. the only definite plus is better polyp extension.
the cons far outway the pros for this... I think sticking to carbon dosing with the usual vodka is much much more effective.

so the whole zeovit additives is far overrated and results arent that great? Just curious to know.... cause I know theres a large community of zeovit users that feel very strongly about what they are doing.

Im fairly ignorant when it comes to zeovit...

I would say overpriced definitely(doubly so for the additives) but the main system does work as far as bringing out colors, although I already mentioned the downsides of a improperly implemented system.

I know I should probably put this in my sig by now but, I'm sticking to my biopellets.
