I have heard of bad batches of Reef Crystals which is what I use but never anything testing more than 1ppm of ammonia. I let it sit and mix for another day and it is dark green. I do not recall the numbers on the kits but maybe the second one to the bottom of both API kits. Also LFS said 4ppm. I am running out of ideas here.

The plan is to try this but I find it highly unusual that it would read 4ppm ammonia after two days of mixing with no lid.

Here is today's tests. Far left is newly mixing saltwater (~3 days mixing), middle is ATO tank, and right is display.

I am leaning towards my rodi water having ammonia traces but if so why would the ATO water have less ammonia than the new saltwater?

Have you checked to see if your water supply is treated with cholramines, and your rodi unit is set up to treat for chlorine? I had this same problem, and my local water was treated with chloramines which caused the product water to have around 1-2 ppm ammonia. I also had high nitrates that I just couldnt get rid of. Switched out my filters in my rodi unit to treat for chloramines and viola, problem solved.

Thanks for the video that is an interesting thought. I believe my RODI system treats for chlorine but I will double check. It is a typhoon 5 stage from air water ice.

Air, water, ice has different filter media for chloramines. My local water has chloramines also and i have to buy their special media to take care of it. look at all the options on their website, find the one that specifically says it removes chloramines, and see if what is in your cannisters is the same. You can also search online for your annual water treatment report and look for the mention of chloramines. Our local water report lists it as "Chlorine(Chloramines)" so it can be a bit deceptive.
