I was testing my cycling aquarium today and when i dropped part "B" in the test tube, it kinda looked like a lava lamp. It was cool but it never happened before. So anyways i go on and then i shake it and wait 5 mins and it was completely white. no yellow or red just white. Does this mean my ammonia's off the chart? im using api and i heard if you nitrate test is blue then it means its just off the charts. Is it the same with this? I bought a damsel to cycle and it died so i kept it in a fish net in the sump instead of getting a shrimp so if you tell me their off the charts, that would make sense. This just never happened before.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

PS: id be happy if their off the charts, cause at least it means the tanks cycling.

I may be a little confused, but i have an API test kit as well and the ammonia test colors are a green/yellow scale not yellow/red. But my ammonia test is always a milky white, with just a "hint" of green.

not sure if we are talking about the same test kit though

Did you accidentally use 8 drops of the same bottle twice??? I have done that before. And above post is right. API turns from Yellow to Green...and Nitrite is 0 if it is blue.

yea i meant that for you.. just wait for a while and the white should turn to yellow, or whatever you have of ammonia. ( are you waiting the instructed 5-10 mins in the packet? for color to develop)

Start completely over and rinse your tubes in the sink...then rinse them in the tank a couple of times and re-test.
