So, for the past 5 days or so, I have been semi-concerned about my skimmer not producing as much skim-mate as it did when I first got it. Today, I decided to check params and came up with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates. This is the first time I have had 0 nitrates since I have gotten the skimmer. Is the reduction in skim-mate directly related to the reduction of the nitrates, meaning not as much stuff in the water for it to actually skim?
    TIA all

its probably taken alot of waste out of the water, so now the skimmer doesn't have as much waste left to take out

Try feeding a lot more to see if you get start getting more skimmate.

Just kidding, don't do that. It would work to get up the skimmate, but it would cause other problems.

When I feed or stick my hands in the tank my skimmer seems to flat line a bit and doesn't produce much skim mate.
