I have thousands of amphipods in my DT and sump.whatever I take from tank filled with amphipods, I need to reduce them.

Below my options, which one will be best suited for my tank

Sixline Wrasse or Mandarin or Red scooter blenny?

    Here are my existing fish

    Yellow tang
    Blue hippo tang
    Flame angelfish
    Percula clownfish
    two green chromis

Tank is 80 gallon and I have about 120 lbs of live rock and its 1.5 yrs old tank.

I've got to say its pretty much a personal preference. I would choose the mandarin as they are definitely my favorite SW fish, but if for some reason you lose that huge pod population the mandarin will starve. Not likely to happen, but just want to throw it out there.

On the other hand, I have a six-line that eats pods, but also takes flake food.

I'd get the mandarin because they're alot less susceptible to getting ich, which you're prob gonna have an issue with someday with that tang! Good luck!

I know my tank is small for two tangs, but previous owner had them for 5 years and never had any ich issue. I just don't want to separate them and they never had any aggression issue apart from feeding times.

    My favourite priority being

    1. Sixline wrasse - how good are they eating amphipods ?I don't know if my tank has any other pods apart from amphipods, atleast not visible to naked eye.

    2. Mandarin - I heard they starve to dead once pods population goes down, but I am doubtful my tank pods will be down so quick.

    3. Red scooter blenny (this is my wife's first choice :) ) - any cons on this one?

option 2 & 3 most preferred since they are not active swimmers and so my other fish may not trouble them.

Skip the sixline; if you want a wrasse consider something along the lines of the following: Canary Wrasse, Radiant Wrasse, Melanurus Wrasse, etc.

Any of the smaller Halichoeres wrasses will eat just as many (if not more) pods and will make a much better tankmate than a sixline.

I was thinking the same thing reading this (assuming it's really amphipods and not copepods). I was also thinking about Christmas Wrasse, Red Coris Wrasse, etc.

I would go with a melanarus personally. They will eat much more than the others.

On a side note, but on your subject. Do mandarins actually eat amphipods? Their mouths seem to small to me and I've never seen the question addressed.

Melanurus' are pretty cool. I got my sixline cause it helps with coral pests and it was for my 20g long frag tank.
