I noticed a while back I had a couple amphipods in my sump growing, crawling around the live rock and such, they started to spread and I started seeing more and more. Last nite I turned on my lights in the display to check something out and saw a ton of them crawling on the live rock... I know they are benficial but can there be "too many" and if so what critter would enjoy these as a food source as I have never seen any of my fish eating them or even trying to...

    Thanks,
    Tom

Many fish will eat them.. some solely (the mandarin goby, AKA dragonette)...
but they need a constant supply...

I think too many would be if they start clogging filters and blocking light....

You will get lots of amphipods but they are mostly nocturnal and brilliant CUC. Most will survive in your sump/fuge, their offspring are perfect food for fish and corals etc.

Amphipods many times are too large for mandarins at least adult amphipods, but yes they are a fantastic food source for the tank, themselves and their offspring
