Can someone tell me if amphipods are bigger versions of copepods? I thought i was finally starting to get some copepods, but looking closer at them they seem to be a bit bigger then the descriptions i have found online. They look kind of like translucent miniature flat Rollie Pollies, and rang in size form about 1mm to 1/4" or so. Also will mandrians eat them? I really love the way mandrians looks, but have stayed away from them since i keep reading they should only be in a tank with a good supply of copepods.

    Thx!

amphipods are similar to copepods, however not the same... The copepods are MUCH smaller (250 micrometers). Amphipods resemble tiny shrimp

Copepods in our tanks have a much broader range then 250µm. Some are smaller, and some are larger.

They don't look like tiny shrimp, those are mysids. OP is correct on his ID, rolly polly bug like ones are amphipods. Also resemble sand flees if you've ever seen those. They will prey upon your copepods (amongst eating other things). They area a very beneficial animal :)

They are even used (amphipods) in some aquaculture facilities to eat detritus in filter tanks.

they do look like that picture of the amphipod. So guess that means the mandrian is still out of the question :-/. Also thats funny someone mention the filter tanks...when I change out media in the Fluval they are always in there.
