And now it seems a snail is shooting eggs everywhere!

    So I went to my tank to watch the recent hermit crab fry explosion and noticed a snail acting strange.Its at the top of the tank standing up stretched out spewing millions of eggs!It would spew and then drop a little nugget out and then repeat.I grabbed the video and caught the whole thing.WOW first hermit crabs breeding and now snails! My tank is getting cloudy with these eggs and hermit fry everywhere

    What kind of snail is it? Usally when snails do that they are stressed.

    Astrea snail.So those white bubbles arent eggs?

    They are eggs,but when they are stressed they release there eggs like that. They usally lay ther eggs on glass. I bet you the fish are having a feast. Lol

    That's true. Then the males broadcast spawn their milt to fertilize them. It's not always stress that causes this. It's a fairly common occurence.

    Hermits can breed in our tanks?

    No, they can TRY just like many species of snails can TRY. Only snails that go through direct development produce babies. All others that go through planktonic development just make coral food and skimmate.

    Yea I have no fish in the tank currently,they were removed due to aggression.So nothing got eaten.
    The hermit crab fry "zoea" that hatched yesterday are still around only because I have no fish in the tank im assuming, and I turned off the skimmer as soon as i saw what was happening.
    It must be sexy time in my reef!
