It prob won't fit in my stand. I'll have to measure it once I get home from work.

So I am going to build my own 30 gal sump. I'm going to keep my current one until my tank finishes cycling. My tank is NOT drilled and I'm afraid to do it to my new one so maybe later on I will.

I was kinda of freaking when I first learned how to bulid one but I have a bette grip on it now but any advice you have or tips would be great!!! ;D

I'll be getting a skimmer after my tank is finished cycling. As I have read it takes longer to cycle so I will just wait.

I have 15 lbs of dry rock coming tomorrow and another 10 coming soon. I will seed with 2-3 pound of live rock. One pound will be going in to my sump.

I have a sump, its going to be utilized until my cycling is over but I will build my 30 gal slowly and get it set up before I add livestock. Shouldn't be an issue as I don't have holes drilled and don't plan on drilling until I get more advanced in this hobby/lifestyle.

well drilling isnt nesessary, it just makes things asthetically nicer and a tad easier to work with, cuts down on noise too.

When you are ready I will send you pic's of my set up's, so you can visually understand the workings, then we can discuss your want's and needs- sumps shouldnt be one size fits all, they should always be customized to your set up- which most end up being in the long run any way.

One other thing- keep your eyes open on craigs list, you can get some very good deals there- esp - live rock.

Thanks!!! On my next tank I will probably drill but this one is my first and I'm just not ready to do it.

Once I am ready and you can send me pics I would be forever grateful! I learn more and more every day and love it!!

    *Update*

I ordered 35 more lbs of dry rock from John a few days ago so once that comes I should be done with my rock :) I used my Petsmart gift card and got a bunch of stuff including an algae magnet!!! Plus I order some other items from various website. My over flow came, got the plumbing from home depot now its up and running *does happy dance* Didn't realize how much I love it until now!!! Plus my refractometer came as well and I just want to hug it and would too if it didn't screw up my calibration LOL Next will be me working on my return line so I don't have that ugly pipe in it anymore but shouldn't be a problem to fix :) (any suggestions are wlecomed as well) My saltwater for my water change after the cycle is constantly being mixed by a broken power head (can't wait for the cycle to complete!!) The nitrates are still high so I'm hoping within the next week it crashes but nature is mysterious so patience is key. Next on my list is a protein skimmer so I can work on my custom sump/fuge. Plus I'm asking hubby for a better lighting system for my birthday in Feb so he has plenty of time to save up Bwhahahahaha.

Sounds like your following some good advice and doing your research, great start. The one thing I might suggest is get your skimmer going in the last weeks of your cycle as it usually takes a week or more to get it dialed in, it has to build up a coating before it really starts to work properly. ;)
