so i have been playing around with sketch up designing my stand for the 54g corner tank i bought. here are the pics. all measurements are in inches. idk what type of wood i will use most likely oak since it is sturdy and can be stained dark or light. i will most likely do a darker stain on it.

this build will take time since i want to make sure it is as close to perfect if not perfect.

first pic is the front, each of the light blue squares are doors.
and the 2 little ones on the top will be for things like where i will hide controller, cords, testing supplies and what not
2nd is top, the part to the left is where the tank will sit and the hole there will be for the plumping. and the other hole towards the back middle will be for a power cord incase i want to set somthing up on the desk area part
3rd is the back i plan on leaving it open
4th is a angle view and yes that is another door on the end.

if i have done this right there will be enough room for a 40g breeder to go underneath it i plan on building a lip around the 40g breeder and coating the lip with rubber or something just incase of like over flow or something (trying to beat murphies law you know)

any comments, concerns, suggestions let me know

    looks good..

What about putting a door on both sides instead of just the 1? Sure you have thought about that.

the thing is this is going into a corner of my living room and have a door on both sides would kinda defeat the purpose of putting the tank and stand into the corner. but i did think of that it would be cool since it would make it easier to do cleaning and what not if i could do that

holy crap. lol i didnt even see you lived near me. i go into pt charlotte all the time to pick stuff up. have you been to the new fish store there by lowes called Atlantis coral and treasure. they are awsome in there. last time i went they wouldnt sell me any corals for my 12g fluval cause something had shocked the system and all the corals were closed up and he didnt want to be selling anything that was already stressed out and most likely would not survive a re-homing.

Yes I have gone there and unfortunately they believe someone may have put some copper in there system. I went there a day after and feel real bad for them.

Have you gone to eco reef in venice(Donna and Chet are the owners). They have some nice stuff. Can be a little expensive on some things but have also come out with some really nice deals. If you do cash they usually give me a discount.
