Ok so this is my first nem and have never experienced it "releasing" lol. Here's a quick picture of the nem this morning, I worry bc I see some white along with the brown. I've been googling around this morning and have been coming up with both answers of course. Just wanted to see what my favorite forum has to say, thanks.

Is the nems foot pinkish or red? looks to be a little bleached to me. Also how long has it been in your tank?
A good sign though is its still attached to the rock.

If you bought it when the foot was brown then it was bleached at the store and isnt healthy, but if you got it in your tank and it turned brown or a fleshy color in there its having issues. Could be letting waste go but IMO its slowly dying. :( Nems are funny creatures they inflate and defalte to do many things including self water changes, letting go of waste or they dont like the tank conditions then they do all sorts of funny things.

So its been in there since monday, i assume you have checked the nitrate and Phospates in your tank and that you drip acclumated him for atleast a hour?

Just take some time - Nem's are very animated at times remember they are 90% water. Check your water - insure good light. It looks like a LTA? if it buried it's foot in the sand you should be fine. If it starts moving then you have to find out the perfect spot.

If it's a LTA they do get light shock easy and takes them a few days mine hid the first 24 hours.

It looked fine to me the past 2 days, I understand its only been in my tank for so long, but within 10 mins of putting it in it looked ok. Not the best lookin nem ever but what can I say? Here's a pic of the day I dropped it in.

oh its a bubble tip nem...i have never had luck keeping those. I have a LTA that is super easy to look after IMO. What kind of lighting do you use?

It looks decent there, I would give it some time BTA's foot should be red though so its in need of something may have been starved at your LFS have you tried to feed it yet?
