anemone dying???

clap clap good choice. I have biocube 29, but my lfs in my area told me they wont survive with 36 watt compact lighting and say i atleast need T5 lighting for them to survive. So Im not sure anem is good idea for biocube unless you upgrade your lighting to T5 or MH.

If you still want your clown to host on something, and kinda has anem's feeling, you can try torch coral. My clown hosted on my torch coral.

 

I agree with Mkizla, there are several corals that a clown will host. And it may be better suited for your tank.
*NOTE: Clowns don't need anemones in a tank and anemones don't need clowns in a tank. They can survive just fine without each other.
I am very glad that you decided to take it back.
We are not trying to be harsh with you because you are a newbie, or to gang up on you, we just care about you and your tank. We want to make sure you have a healthy tank and self confidence. Please don't take us the wrong way when we sound too brash.

 

I do want to add one note about how to get away with less than optimum lighting for an anemone. I have 4 rose bubbles in my tank and run two 65 watt pcs in a 50 gallon oceanic show tank. I counteract the limited light source by feeding regularly. They are now about 1 year old and I started with one.

Take the advice from the people on 3reef.com over your LFS. I work at a LFS and some of the bs that the owner says is just horrifying. I would quit due to his flagrant lies about some species, but he pays me well and gives me everything at his price. For example, when people ask about setting up a saltwater tank I start with the cycling then the cost of setting up a successful tank. I do this because I remember how I planned on only spending about 300 to upgrade from a fresh to salt setup. Instead it cost me about 600. If I had know this I probably would have waited longer. I always suggest adding all LR at once that way there is no mini cycle. My boss claims you can add your rock over time. This is true and folse. If the rock is cured then you are fine, but if it was recently shipped or out of a tank for a bit there will be die off and a mini cycle. He will sell any anenome even if it looks like it is going to die. I refuse to sell people anenomes that look even close to having something wrong with them. However, he does refuse to sell people livestock if their tank is not cycled or if there is any chance of incompatibility. He knows what he is doing and has been in the hobby for over 15 years. He is just tired of running the store and has stopped caring. I highly suggest doing research on your own and disregarding most of what your LFS says. If they truly cared about your tank they would have told you the truth. Remember, it is a business and if it was a slow week they have to do what they have to do to pay the bills.

Look into a torch, my two clowns took to my torch instead of the 4 possible anemones in my tank. Goodluck with your tank.

 

it could be shedding debris or pooping, mine does it too from time to time. it always comes back though and never looks like this for more than half a day or so.
