I have had a bubble tip anemone for aprox 9 mons and has been doing great until about 2 weeks ago. It never moved from the day I put it in and now it has been all over the tank in the last 2 weeks.
It is now at the bottom of the tank, not attached to anything and looks like it is bleaching out. I realize it is probly dying, but at what point do I take it out so it doesn't spike the levels in the tank.
As i only have a 29 gal biocube I want to make sure I keep on top of this.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If you are using stock PC lighting and have not changed out the bulbs, that may have led to his decline.

A BTA floating and unattached is ominous for sure. If he does not get better or re-attached soon I would remove him. Really too bad, it is so frustrating sometimes after an animal has been doing well, for so long.

    How are your parameters ?

in my experience w bta when they move they aren't happy then they start to float and could go into a powerhead. I would keep an eye on it keep it in their till it looks like snot. it's pretty obvious when they are dying. I had one killed by a power head after splitting and sat till it was snotty looking and it didn't affect my tank at all. so just watch it

    Just an FYI,

I just went thru the same situation with my 24G Aquapod. The nano aquariums typically fluctuate too much with water evaporation causing S.G. to go up rapidly compared to larger systems. Same thing with Nitrates.

I ended up discarding my RBTA because it was too far gone. I had mine with a set of clowns for months before anything even happened. All my parameters are textbook with the exception of Nitrates being around 15ppm due to the amount of corals in the tank. I also had 150w of MH about 12" above the tank so that wasn't an issue...

Sometimes it just happens...... Sorry to say
