Today my brother got a bubble tip anemone although I told him not to yet, so I came home to a deflated anemone after he called me.. but the water parameters are perfect
    nitrate 0
    nitrite 0
    ammonia 0
    ph 8.4

the only possible problem i can think of is the that he recently had an algae bloom and he added the anemone into the algae bloom.. right now i have it sitting in a bucket with half of my tank water and half of the water it was originally from so i'm acclimating it.. and i have a light and a air pump running some oxygen for it.. any suggestions or i have no hope? it seems to have deflated bubble arms now and the mouth is pretty wide open with some things coming out of it, i'm assuming it's food that it consumed before.. any help would be greatly appreciated..

they will do that. did he acclimate it or just chunk it into the tank?? what kind of lights do you have and how old is your tank? do you know anything about anemone's? I'd take it back to the store before it dies. do you know how to drip acclimate? that is how it should be done, slowly. for about 2 hours. Anemone's are pretty delicate creatures that should be left in the ocean............

let me add....chances are since it has stringy stuff coming out, it's puking it's guts out....literally...........since it sounds very stressed.

dude all anemones will look like that even after a day or so in the tank...just do what you are doing now and if the parameters are fine and u have good lighting AND good current he should be GOOD...also when you do put him back make sure he has a hole to stash his base in, it will make him more comfortable...i think (not sure) that BTAs are a lil hardy compared to other anemones

I don't think people know what they get into when they get an anemone.... I say that from experience.

What's the temperature of the water? They need the water to be fairly cool. My old rose BTA liked it around 75º and would start to shrivel up if it got above 78º. They are pretty delicate. I just bought a new chiller to help keep my temps steady since fan cooling can be a little unreliable.

I'm sorry to read about your BTA. :-[ Mine did the same thing too, it would shrink then grown. One day, after 2 years, it just completely disappeared. I think it shriveled down and my Gold Striped ate it.

How long has your tank been running?
