just bought a new anemone (long tentacle) i placed him in the tank last night where i though he should go and of course he moved he stayed on the sand. when he moved again there was a green slime ball left behind i scooped it out and put it into a container. its about the size of a pea and is the same color and has the consistancy of mucus. any body know what this is.

I am by no means an expert but I do think that anemones expel mucous (sp) when excreting things from their systems....I'm sure there is a much more technical name for it. I would guess that is what you have. It sounds disgusting but a pic would probably help. Has it expanded afterwards? How does the anemone look now? That will tell you whether it was anything to be concerned about....

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

Agreed, probably expelled food or items found in the digestive tract.

The anemone should have expanded again by now at least somewhat.

A dying anemone will have a gaping oral opening, the exposure of Mesenterial Filaments, will not foot for long, floats around the tank.

If decay sets in you will see a detectable ammonia value.
