Agreed 100%..my GBTA has doubled if not tripled in size under T5...and also my nem is doing GREAT with my nitrates at between 5-10 always..i used to keep my nitrates at 0..but since letting them go up a little...everything in my tank is actually healthier..SPS included...its really weird because all i ever heard was SAY NO TO NITRATES..lol but found that saying yes to a little actually promoted growth of everything in my tank...

    I would. my monti cap does well under 2x10k 48w T5 + 2 actinic.

you LET your nitrates go up? wanna give me a hint on how to get mine DOWN? because you say 5 is high for a nem but your tank seems to like it, but about 30 isnt helping mine :) btw you dont have to answer here id feel bad for taking away from the original post

Nitrates cause stress on corals and nems. They attempt to regulate the amount of nitrate and phosphate their xooxanthellae get, but can't do that if the water has too much to begin with.

i do not have experiance with t5's but i have noticed my purple lta actually shys away from my metal halides direct lighting, so maybe thats an indication t5 could be enough.

i would definetly put the second 10k in though, 10k is for shallow water light spectrum, actinic is for deep sea spectrum, anemones live in shallow water, hence the need for more 10k. thats what ive learned anyway.
