Hi I was wondering if I was able to put an anemone in my 28g nano cube. I would really like to do this because I want my clownfish to be happy in it. But I also heard they can move and sting other coral.

    Anything I can do?

In a 28 gallon tank, everything is real close together. If your anemone decided to go on a walkabout, you could wake up to every single coral dead. It's not worth the risk.

Besides, clowns don't need anemones anyway.

Well I dont have any coral right now. SO I heard that once an anemone finds its place it wont move again.

Yeah, but you heard wrong. ;D Seriously, you might have an anemone that doesn't move for a year or it might move every month. It's really hard to say.

i would do it, theres not much thats cooler than a clown hosting an anemone, i have put a carpet anemone in my 29 gallon i used to have, and ive also had a sebae in there, they do fine and in my experience, in most cases they move around for the first week or two but find a place and stay relatively stationary.

If you get an anemone, you'll have to wait at least 8 months. They only thrive in well-established tanks. And eventually, you will want coral. No matter how much you say no now, it's always gets stronger. I'd recommend getting a frogspawn or torch coral. They look the same (or better) than most nems, and a clown will mostly use it. Many clowns will never touch anemones. Hopefully you picked a good pair.

unless you get a clown pair that are avid hosters they will not host anything but anemones, percula and ocellaris are the pickiest. if you get the right anemone they will host, they dont host bubble tips as commonly as others like malu and ritteri. but those are very dificult to keep. have brights lights strong filtration and a mature tank(over a year old) and any anemone will thrive. if properly cared for.

Alright so I'm thinking of getting a torch then. I don't want it to get to big for my tank though so it takes up all my space. Is there a way I can keep it small?

Theoretically the torch does not grow so fast that it would be a problem.

If it gets large enough to be a problem - you can simply "snap" or cut one of the heads off and reduce the mother colony size while adding a new frag to your collection!!!
